A long time ago a girl reigning from NSW named Lauren Watson was slaving away at a boring desk job when she got the idea to create screen printed singlets and T shirts to sell at markets. Setting up a creative space at home, she started playing around with the idea and concept of selling festival inspired designs and started sourcing materials but she needed a name…..
Growing up in a small town that had a rough area, she often joked with her friends they went to the School of Hard Knocks and one day when she was talking about the idea she decided that it would make an fitting name for a brand of hands on screen printed garments that have a rough edge – where else did I learn to screen print than at the School of Hard Knocks?
Having started selling to friends first, she took the plunge and put them up for sale on Ebay and it soared. After great success for several years, she decided that it was time to get serious and enrolled in a private graphic design school to learn how to become a better designer and be more broad. When she graduated she landed a job at Shoalhaven Entertaiment Centre and designed brochures, posters and marketing material for 4 years before venturing out in her own to start her studio – of course – Hard Knox Creative.
Her career has seen her work being featured on Logo Lounge, Lynda, printed in Semi Permanent’s Book 2 and has designed work for Industry Aerial Arts, Flyworx, Circus Corridor, Michelle Cashman and Sienna Byron Bay.
